Talk About Productions are proud to announce the world premier of their new political drama. TIME BOMB, a wry and topical one act play written by former City lawyer, Tim Burton, will be performed at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Set in March 2017 against the backdrop of a futuristic, politically uncertain Britain, TIME BOMB follows the 48 hours preceding a controversial Parliamentary vote to authorise a nuclear war with Iran.
Crucial to the outcome is Victoria Clarke, a rising political figure and member of a scientific dynasty, the Clarke family, whose lives have been intertwined in the development of the UK's nuclear weapons programme for over 70 years.
As the Clarkes celebrate the 60th birthday of former government spin-doctor, Robert Clarke, the family gathers to open a time capsule buried in the garden for the last 50 years. Once exposed, the contents set in motion a series of revelations so far reaching, that they look set to rock the foundations of both the family and country alike.
In the 50th anniversary year of CND, the play is influenced by the recent landmark decision in Westminster to maintain Britain's nuclear weapons system, Trident.
Directed by Lesley Strachan, TIME BOMB presents a stark portrayal of the lasting consequences of government policy, and asks pertinent questions about modern attitudes towards democracy which will resonate across a wide range of audiences.
